Please familiarize yourself with the rules listed below.
OPEN TO THE PUBLIC RULES
All guns must be unloaded and cased before entering Pine Tree Pistol Club.
While on the range, the Range Safety Officers are to be obeyed at all times.
Gun may only be uncased at the safety area or at the shooting points.
Eye & ear protection must be worn on the range at all times.
THE 4 RULES OF FIREARMS SAFETY
1. ALWAYS TREAT EVERY FIREARM AS THOUGH IT IS LOADED.
The phrase “it’s unloaded” should never pass your lips and should never be trusted from someone else’s. Unless you are preparing to shoot, your first action with any firearm in all situations should be to point the muzzle in a safe direction, check the chamber, and clear the firearm.
2. ALWAYS KEEP THE MUZZLE POINTED IN A SAFE DIRECTION.
It might help to think of the muzzle as a laser pointer—and everything it points toward is in danger. Never let the muzzle cover anything you’re not willing to destroy. Regarding the “safe direction”: don’t forget the possibility of a ricochet!
3. KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL READY TO SHOOT.
The best way to prevent accidental discharge is to keep your trigger finger indexed along the frame of the firearm until your sights are on the target. Do not place your finger inside the trigger guard until you’re ready to pull the trigger.
4. ALWAYS BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEHIND IT.
If you pull the trigger, you cannot take back the bullet! Everything and everyone in front of, near, and beyond your target is your responsibility. Make sure you have an adequate backstop and never shoot at a flat, hard surface or water.
GUNS CAN ONLY BE LOADED AT THE SHOOTING POINTS
When gun is set down, guns must be unloaded, the action must be locked open with the magazines removed or the cylinder left open.
GUNS CAN ONLY BE MOVED FROM THE SHOOTING POINTS UNLOADED AND CASED.
- It is easier for the shooters to trade points
- Leave the guns unloaded with the actions open at the points
IF A CEASE FIRE COMMAND IS GIVEN (FLASHING LIGHTS & BUZZER SOUNDS)
- Stop shooting
- Keep gun pointed down range
- Keep finger off the trigger
- Wait for further instructions
IN THE EVENT YOU EXPERIENCE A MISFIRE/HANG FIRE/SQUIBS LOAD:
- Keep gun pointed down range
- Keep finger off the trigger
- Inform Range Safety Officer by raising your hand
For everyone’s safety, if you save your brass, pick it up prior to each reload or it will be swept up & thrown away. When finished shooting, don’t forget to your wash hands & blow your nose.Only approved ammo is allowed. If you fail to follow the rules, you will be asked to leave & no refund will be given!
